	Burma, a country of 47 million people, is ruled by one of the most brutal and corrupt regimes in the world.  A massive military presence of nearly 500,000 personnel denies a whole nation its most basic rights.
	ICEM-A/P Campaign
	The International Labour Organisation (ILO), a United Nations agency, charges Burma’s regime with a ‘crime against humanity’ for its widespread and systematic use of forced labour.  It is estimated that up to possibly two million men, women, children and the elderly are forced to labour for the military.

....We are under huge amount of pressure with the process of globalisation. Restructuring process with significant job-cut and merger has been pushing us to unprecedented competition in the labor market. Asia/Pacific region was not exceptional in this serious problem of new challenge to trade unions.....	.... What we realise now is that the globalisation process affects everyone in every country and we face tremendous task of reducing the negative impact from globalisation. Unfortunately the gap between rich and poor is growing fast in all countries.....

Basic Data of ICEM-A/P Affiliates 74 Unions from 16 countries in Asia & Pacific Region are affiliated to the ICEM-A/P. The basic information on the affiliates is compiled, so you can directly contact with the unions through e-mail address and visit the web sites, if they have.

Union Education Actual conditions, difficulties, tasks of union education are surveyed. With this survey results, we can compare the background and situation among affiliates, and work out planning of union education, necessary to develop union education.

Job Security Under the pressure from globalisation of neo liberalist attack, job security is increasingly threatened. ICEM-A/P surveyed the union's strategy to protect jobs: their schemes on negotiation with employers, growing temporary jobs, company mergers, lay-off, new technology, etc. In our region, employment is turned out to be very fragile. We should find out why and how to cope with it.
